          CANDIDATE FILING INFORMATION

     

     

    Offices open for the upcoming Primary Election 2006 are:

     

    County Board of Supervisor, District 2.  Four-Year Term.  Minimum number of signatures needed on the nomination petition:  Democratic Party – 36 and Republican Party – 23.

     

    County Board of Supervisor, District 3.  Four-Year Term.  Minimum number of signatures needed on the nomination petition:  Democratic Party – 40 and Republican Party – 30.

     

    County Treasurer:  Four-Year Term.  Minimum number of signatures needed on the nomination petition: Democratic Party – 100 and Republican Party – 100.

     

    County Recorder: Four-Year Term.  Minimum number of signatures needed on the nomination petition: Democratic Party – 100 and Republican Party – 100.

     

    County Attorney.  Four-Year Term.  Minimum number of signatures needed on the nomination petition: Democratic Party – 100 and Republican Party – 100.

     

    ·         Affidavit of Candidacy must be signed in front of a notary and filed with the petition.

    ·         Nomination petitions must be on 8 x 11½ paper.

    ·         Petitions must be properly filled out:

    o       Information that also appears on the affidavit should be the same on the petition.

    o       All pages must be filled out at the top.  Signatures on petitions without the form at the top cannot be counted.

    o       Only one candidate can be nominated on each petition.

    o       Lines on the petition that lack the signature, address and city of the eligible elector do not count toward the minimum number of signatures needed.

    o       If the office is for a vacancy, “To fill vacancy” must be on the affidavit and nomination petition.

     

    Filing begins: March 6, 2006 and ends March 29, 2006 at 5:00 PM.
