Special FM 1% Sales Tax Use Change Election                                   Held on April 11, 2006
PUBLIC MEASURE A
   Summary:  To authorize a change in the use of the one percent (1%) local sales and services tax in the City of Fort Madison effective July 11, 2006.
   The use of the one percent (1%) local sales and services tax shall be changed in the City of Fort Madison effective July 11, 2006.
PROPOSED USES OF THE TAX:
   If the change is approved, revenues from the sales and services tax shall be allocated as follows:
   Eighty percent (80%) for property tax relief.
  The specific purpose for which the revenues shall otherwise be expended is:
   Twenty percent (20%) for construction/repair/replacement of existing streets, curbs, structures, storm sewers and sanitary sewers as they relate to streets within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Madison.
CURRENT USES OF THE TAX:
   Revenues from the sales and services tax are currently allocated as follows:
   Sixty percent (60%) for property tax relief.
   The specific purpose for which the revenues are otherwise expended is:
   Forty percent (40%) for construction/repair/replacement of existing streets, curbs, structures, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers as they relate to streets within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Madison.
