January 17, 2006 The
Lee County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 9:00
A.M., at the South Lee County Courthouse in Keokuk. Present: George Morgan, Larry Kruse, Joe Kowzan, Rick Larkin and Bob
Woodruff. All votes unanimous unless otherwise
indicated. Moved by Larkin, seconded by Kruse, to
approve the January 10, 2006 board minutes.
Motion carried. Citizen comments, questions or concerns:
Rodger Newberry, Keokuk, addressed the Board concerning the completion of
Burdette’s Subdivision. Received and filed the following step
increase for Conservation: Michelle Broderson, Environmental Program
Coordinator I, from Class 5 Step 2 $12.83/hr. to Class 5 Step 3 $13.21/hr.,
effective 12/21/05. New Business: Supervisor Kruse stated
that the Board would be asked to participate in supporting the request that the proposed new State prison
be built in Lee County.
Supervisor Kowzan requested that a resolution stating this fact be presented
at the next Board meeting and sent to the Governor’s office in Des Moines. Commission/Committee Reports: Supervisor
Kowzan received a report on the use of the Juvenile Detention Center.
Supervisor Morgan received a telephone call from Southeastern Community
College inviting the Board members to a reception for the college’s new
president. Moved by Kruse, seconded by Kowzan, to
approve the claims for payment. Motion
carried. With
no further action, Chairman Morgan adjourned the meeting at 9:08 A.M. The next regular meeting of the Board is
scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2005, at 9:00 A.M., at the North Lee
