February 21, 2006 The
Lee County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 9:00
A.M., at the South Lee County Courthouse in Keokuk. Present: Joe Kowzan, Larry Kruse, George Morgan, Rick Larkin and Bob
Woodruff. All votes unanimous unless otherwise
indicated. Moved by Larkin, seconded by Kruse, to
approve the Tuesday, February 14, 2006 board minutes. Motion carried. Upon recommendation of Lee County
Engineer Dennis Osipowicz, it was moved by Kowzan, seconded by Kruse, to
accept a bid from Midwestern Culvert, Ltd. of Ankeny, Iowa for Stock
Corrugated Metal Pipe in the amount of $24,108.62. Motion carried. Other bids
received were: Metal Culverts, Inc. of Jefferson City, Missouri for
$25,185.46 and Northern Iowa Construction Products, Inc. of Cedar Falls, Iowa
for $24,538.20. There were no citizen comments,
questions or concerns. Moved by Kowzan, seconded by Larkin, to
move forward in the process of joining Rural Utility Service Systems. Motion
carried. New Business: Supervisor Kruse suggested the county develop evacuation plans for county buildings in the event of a disaster. After some discussion, the board decided to have County Emergency Management Director Steve Cirinna and Building and Maintenance Director Jim Bethurem develop protocol for evacuation of all county buildings in the event of a disaster, even if the event is a false alarm. There were no Commission or Committee
Reports. Moved by Kruse, seconded by Larkin, to
approve the claims for payment. Motion
carried. Received and filed 2 Notifications of
Cancellation of Assistance for properties at 2808 Avenue M, Fort Madison and
P.O. Box 84, Donnellson, Iowa. Received and filed the North and South
Lee County Treasurer’s Reports of Fees Collected for the month ending January
31, 2006. With
no further action, Chairman Morgan adjourned the meeting at 9:21 A.M. The next meeting of the Board is scheduled
