ORDINANCE NO. 1769
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 1, GENERAL PROVISIONS, OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE REGARDING DIVIDING WARD 2 IN THE CITY OF KEOKUK TO PRECINCTS 2A AND 2B
FOR REDISTRICTING PURPOSES FOR LEE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISOR ELECTIONS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KEOKUK, LEE COUNTY, IOWA, THAT:
Section 1. The Municipal Code be amended by
repealing Section 1.12.030 Second Ward, and adoption of a new Section
1.12.030 Second Ward.
1.12.030 Second Ward.
The
second ward includes all that part of the City contained within the following
described area:
Beginning at the intersection of the City boundary
line in the Mississippi River and Main Street extended; thence Northwesterly
along Main Street to the Intersection of the centerline of South 13th
Street, thence Southwesterly along the centerline of South 13th
Street to the intersection of Palean Street; thence Southeasterly along the
centerline of Palean to the intersection of the centerline of South 11th
Street; thence Southwesterly along South 11th Street to the
intersection of the centerline of Ridge Street; thence Southeasterly along
Ridge Street to the intersection of the centerline of South 10th
Street; thence Westerly to its intersection with the centerline of Soap
Creek; thence Southerly along the center of Soap Creek to the intersection of
Soap Creek extended and the City boundary line in the Mississippi River;
Northeasterly along the boundary line in the Mississippi River to the point
of beginning.
Section 2. The second ward shall be divided into Precincts
2A and 2B. Precinct 2A includes all
that part of the City contained within the following described area:
Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of
South 13th Street and Main Street; thence Southwesterly along the
centerline of South 13th Street to the intersection of Palean
Street; thence Southeasterly along the centerline of Palean Street to the intersection
of the centerline of South 11th Street; thence Southwesterly along
the centerline of South 11th Street to the intersection of the
centerline of Ridge Street; thence Southeasterly along the centerline of
Ridge Street to the intersection of the centerline of South 10th
Street; thence Westerly to the intersection with the center of Soap Creek;
thence Southerly along the center of Soap Creek to the intersection of Soap
Creek extended and the centerline of South 7th Street; thence
Northeasterly along the centerline of South 7th Street to the
intersection of the centerline of Ridge Street; thence Northwesterly along
centerline of Ridge Street to the intersection of the centerline of South 9th
Street; thence Northeasterly along the centerline of South 9th
Street to the intersection of the centerline of Palean Street; thence
Northwesterly along the centerline of Palean Street to the intersection of
the centerline of South 10th Street; thence Northeasterly along
the centerline of South 10th Street to the intersection of Main
Street; thence Northwesterly to point of beginning.
Section 3. Ward 2B includes all that part of the
City contained within the following described area:
Beginning at the intersection of the City boundary
line in the Mississippi River and Main Street extended; thence Northwesterly
along Main Street to the intersection of the centerline of South 10th
Street; thence Southwesterly along the centerline of South 10th
Street to the intersection of Palean Street; thence Southeasterly along the
centerline of Palean Street to the intersection of the centerline of South 9th
Street; thence Southwesterly along the centerline of South 9th
Street to the intersection of the centerline of Ridge Street; thence
Southeasterly along the centerline of Ridge Street to the intersection of the
centerline of South 7th Street; thence Southwesterly along the
centerline of South 7th Street to its intersection with the center
of Soap Creek; thence Southerly along the center of Soap Creek to the
intersection of Soap Creek extended and the City boundary line in the
Mississippi River; thence Northeasterly along the boundary line in the
Mississippi River to the point of beginning.
Section 4. All other ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby
repealed.
Section 5. After second reading and passage of
this ordinance, the same shall remain on file with the City Clerk for ten
(10) days before it shall come on for final adoption and thereafter upon such
final adoption as evidenced by a resolution to that effect, this ordinance
shall be published once in The Daily Gate City, a newspaper of general
circulation and after such final adoption, take effect from the date of
publication.
