Fourth Grade
Renewable or Not?
Students will learn about
renewable and nonrenewable reasources and how resources tie into
recycling. They will participate in
an M & M activity, which demonstrates how individuals use resources. Recycling in their area is stressed and
they will have to determine items that can be recycled.
Pencil
Making
Students will learn how
pencils are made by working in small groups to complete a worksheet. They will then test their knowledge with
pencil jeopardy. The winning team
will receive recycled pencils as a prize.
This activity generally runs a little long, but students last year had
a blast.

Students will unlock the
truth about different wildlife misconceptions and myths. For
example, not all spiders
spin webs, daddy-long-legs are not true spiders, toads don’t cause warts, and
many others. Students will work in
small groups to create a zoo card of their IA animal.

Students will be able to evaluate
the importance of adaptations by becoming birds and using everyday tools to
discover how different kinds of beaks and feet determine where a bird lives
and what it eats.
The
Incredible Journey of the Water Droplet
Students will be involved
in an activity that involves the movement of water through the water cycle
and recognize the three states of water.
Students will make a water cycle necklace out of beads while learning
the water cycle.
