Kindergarten
Baby Animals
Students will see “Are you my Mother” puppet show
and play a matching games where students match the adult animal with the baby
animal.
Feathers For Lunch
Students will learn to identify different kinds of birds
and hear their calls. The book, Feathers for Lunch, by Lois Ehlert will
be read and they will make pine cone and peanut butter bird feeders.
Trees
Students will listen to The Log Hotel, take a peek inside a large wooden tree to
discover who lives there, and play go tree.
Turtle Fun
Learn about the turtles of Iowa through a story,
pictures, and looking at turtle shells.
They will also get the chance to see our turtles and
make a craft.
The Mitten
Students will listen to the story “The Mitten.” After the story they will make Christmas
tree ornaments with white felt mittens and decorate them with animals from
the story.

class when signing up for this program in order to have materials ready.
Wild in Iowa Trunk Review
Seventeen Wild in
Iowa trunks are available for use, free of charge, to any Lee
County school, grades K-6. For any
trunk, you may arrange a classroom visit with the naturalists to give a brief
overview of the trunk or do a specific activity.
