    Dennis E. Osipowicz, County Engineer

The County Engineer is responsible for construction and maintenance of the Secondary Road System in Lee County. Lee County’s road system has 701 miles of roadway. This includes 127 miles of paved roads; 538 miles of gravel, 21 miles of seal coated roads and 15 miles of dirt roads. The system also includes 160 bridges and 377 large culverts

The Lee County Engineer’s Office is located at 933 Avenue H, Fort Madison. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm. After hour emergencies may be reported to the Sheriff’s office.

The maintenance division of Secondary Roads is housed in three major shops. In remote areas of the County we have three satellite shops that maintain certain areas.

Ambrosia Shop is located at 1945 300th Street, Montrose. It houses employees and equipment used to maintain roads south of the Sullivan Line.

Central Shop is at 2035 Highway 2, Donnellson. The mechanics are at this location. Much of the road materials and supplies are stored at this location. If a customer were to purchase corrugated metal pipe through the County this is the location they would go to pick it up.

The West Point shop is at 616 4th Street, West Point. The employees who work out of this shop are responsible for the maintenance of the roads north of the Sullivan Line.
