    Clear Glass Jars and Bottles

    Rinse. Remove all metal or plastic lids. Labels may remain.

    Brown, Green or White Glass, Light Bulbs, Dishes, Windows, Crystal, Ceramics

    Newspapers

    Magazines

    Office and Shredded Paper

    Keep dry. Must be free of twine, rubber bands, metals. Remove from your container into separate bins.

    Waxed or plastic coated paper. Foil (cigarette packs, gum wrappers, or Christmas paper) Cellophane (crisp thin transparent papers), books, school papers, office files. Anything old and brittle.

    Corrugated Cardboard,

    Chipboard,

    (cereal boxes

    pop cases)

    Flatten

     

    Remove styro packing or any

    tape etc.

     

    No waxed coating or yellow cardboard accepted.

     

    Cans (ends, lids, and rings.

    Foil and pie tins.

    Rinse cans, foil, tins, etc. Label

    may stay on.

     

    Aerosal spray cans, batteries,

    paint cans.

    Plastics

    Milk jugs, detergent bottles, etc

    Look for the number 1 or 2 on bottom. Rinse, remove metal rings, lids.  Label may stay on.

    Hazardous chemical containers, (oil or anti-freeze, etc) Plastic bags, or wrap

    Any of the above items may be taken to the Transfer Station during operating hours.

    8:00 a.m. to 4:00 Mon-Fri  and   9:00 a.m. to Noon  Saturday.  You may also choose to

    drop them into the City of Keokuk recycle bins.   

             The recycle trailer’s location will change every two to three months, 

                  traveling to  different  locations in the city:  near the police station parking

                  lot at 12th and  Johnson streets; Rees Park  at K and Seventh streets;

                  Kilbourne Park at 19th and   Bank streets; Tolmie Park on Plank Road; and

                  the parking lot at Fifth and Concert streets.  Trailer will be moved 

                  periodically to provide service to all areas  of the city.

    Drop-off is available 24 hours a day except when the bins are being transferred to Fort  Madison.
