Lee County Health Department's Mother Child Health Program provides case management and care coordination services to pregnant women and children 0-21 years of age living in Lee County.
Maternal Health services are designed to enhance prenatal services the client receives from their doctor. These services may include:
- Prenatal Risk Assessment
- Health Education Services
- Care Coordination
- Nutrition Services
- Psycho-Social Services
- Assistance securing a physician
- Assistance obtaining health care coverage
Each mother enrolled in the program is seen one time per trimester and one time after the birth of the baby. Postpartum care includes:
- Lactating mother
- Routine postpartum follow up
Child Health services are designed to assure that each child enrolled has an established medical home that participates in preventive care. Services include:
- Care Coordination
- Case Management
- Assistance obtaining health care coverage
- Assistance securing a physician
- Assistance accessing preventive care, i.e., immunizations, lead screenings, education on childhood diseases, and dental care.
Care For Kids Program (EPSDT) is part of the Child Health Program but is strictly for children enrolled in Medicaid/Title XIX. Children newly enrolled in Medicaid receive an educational mailing about what Medicaid covers and how often these services are to be accessed. Reminders are sent to families to alert them that physicals, immunizations, and dental treatment are due for completion. Care coordination services are also provided through this program.

Care for Kids services are free for children and teens under the age of 21 who have a Medicaid card.
Care for Kids checkups include:
- regular medical checkups
- information about growth, diet and development
- immunizations (shots) like measles and mumps
- regular vision and hearing checkups
- regular dental checkups
Regular checkups are important . . .
- For babies because they can't tell you if they are sick. And if your child needs an exam before starting day care, Care for Kids can help.
- For older children because they can have health problems without showing any signs. Care for Kids can also provide the physical your child needs to start school or go to camp.
- For teens and young adults when they need information about body changes and birth control. Care for Kids can help teens learns to make good choices that will help them stay healthy in the years ahead. Care for Kids exams can be used to meet job requirements and for sports physicals. Young parents under the age of 21 who have a Medicaid card can also use Care for Kids services.
To find out if a doctor, clinic, or dentist offers Care for Kids, ask if they are a "Medicaid provider." Any Medicaid provider can offer Care for Kids services. To make an appointment, you can call the doctor, clinic, or dentist yourself.
