Tax statements are mailed to all property owners
and mobile home owners once a year in the month of August.
First half taxes are due by September 30 and
second half by March 31.
Payments must be received in the Treasurer’s
office or postmarked by the due date to avoid penalties.
The late penalty is 1.5% per month per parcel,
rounded to the nearest whole dollar.
Tax Sale:
All unpaid taxes will be offered at tax sale on
the third Monday in June.
If sold at tax sale, the interest cost increases
to 2% per month.
If the owner does not redeem after one year and
nine months, the tax sale purchaser may start proceedings to take deed to the
property.
Credits:
You may apply for a tax credit to reduce the
amount of taxes due if your yearly income is less than $20,427 and you are over
the age of 65 or totally disabled and over the age of 18.
Forms are available at the County Treasurer’s
Office after January 1.
Tax Credit Forms must be filed in the Treasurer’s
Office by June 1 of the current year.
